When:
Deputies responded to the hotel at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014.

Where:
Deputies responded to the Don CeSar Hotel located at 3400 Gulf Boulevard in St. Pete Beach.

Why/How:
Deputies were called to the Don CeSar Hotel at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 after hotel personnel discovered the suspect’s items in a prior guests’ room. Deputies say the guest staying in the room was scheduled to check out today. When hotel staff went to check on the room, they discovered luggage and a driver’s license that did not match the original guest. Deputies say the license belonged to 32-year-old David Gordon Price. Hotel staff called police and deputies responded.

While at the hotel, deputies made contact with Price’s father who had come to the hotel to pick up Price’s items. Deputies say the father had just bonded Price out of the Pinellas County Jail, after he had been arrested at 6:00 a.m. on May 31, 2014 by the St. Petersburg Police Department for Disorderly Intoxication, Providing a False Name or Identification to a Law Enforcement Officer, Petit Theft and a Warrant out of Alachua County for Defrauding an Inkeeper.

Deputies say Price was nearby on Gulf Boulevard and was subsequently arrested. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

Deputies say Price may have been in the room for about 3-5 days and may have incurred in excess of $3,000 worth of charges on the previous guests’ credit card.

The investigation continues.
