What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single motorcycle crash. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries.
When:
Deputies responded to the crash at about 2:50 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013.
Where:
The crash occurred on Bay Pines Boulevard.
Why/How:
According to investigators, the motorcyclist, identified as 45-year-old Donald Budd Sutton, was traveling from the Duhme Causeway onto the Bay Pines triangle interchange. Deputies say as he was negotiating the turn onto Bay Pines Boulevard, while in the median lane, he drifted onto the guard rail – severing his left leg. Deputies say he lost control, was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries to his head.
Sutton was transported by air to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Sutton was not wearing a helmet.
Neither alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in the crash.
The investigation continues.
