What:
The Sheriff’s Major Accident Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to investigate a minor crash in which a deputy was rear ended by another vehicle. The deputy sustained minor injuries; the driver was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash occurred at about 1:18 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

The crash occurred at 49th Street and Ulmerton Road in Clearwater.
Why/How:
According to investigators, Deputy Sarah Harlan was stopped in traffic in the southbound lanes of 49th Street North when she was struck in the rear of the vehicle by a 1998 Pontiac van driven by Tatanisha Harper.
Deputies say Harper is pregnant and reported feeling lightheaded. She was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Deputy Harlan, who was on duty at the time of the crash, transported herself to the hospital as a precaution and for treatment of minor injuries.
